How full is your bucket for kids, book review

How Full is your Bucket

What is the book about?

Every moment matters.

Each of us has an invisible bucket. When our bucket is full, we feel great. When it’s empty, we feel awful. Yet most children (and many adults) don’t realize the importance of having a full bucket throughout the day.

In How Full Is Your Bucket? For Kids, Felix begins to see how every interaction in a day either fills or empties his bucket. Felix then realizes that everything he says or does to other people fills or empties their buckets as well.

Follow along with Felix as he learns how easy it can be to fill the buckets of his classmates, teachers and family members. Before the day is over, you’ll see how Felix learns to be a great bucket filler, and in the process, discovers that filling someone else’s bucket also fills his own.

What We thought

As N is getting a bit older and able to sit still for longer periods, we have started moving away from one worded books and towards books that reads like a story. It has been interesting to see him listen intently to the story as we go, checking the pages to see if he can find the picture of what is happening.

How Full is your bucket has beautiful illustrations that perfectly illustrated the text on the page. After reading it a couple of times, N was able to show me what happened and the sequence that it happened in! Because the book is not marketed towards toddlers, it doesn’t involve as much rhyming as his other books, but it reads really easy and the sentences/paragraphs are easy enough for him to follow.

If you are looking for books to discuss more complex topics such as emotions and empathy, this is the perfect book to start with for younger readers.

I am sure we will be reading this book for many years to come.
